Pre-owned Heads

Published By Steve Turner, OConnor Product Manager

Are you thinking about buying a pre-owned OConnor support?

Combining quality craftsmanship and state of the art engineering, OConnor fluid heads are built to last. Using proper maintenance, they can remain functional for many years. In fact, there are OConnor fluid heads that are almost 70 years old that are still being used today!

What to look out for

As a result, OConnor fluid heads retain their value better than many other pieces of gear, and a pre-owned unit can be costly, so for this reason, here’s some advice on what to look out for when buying a second-hand OConnor head:

  1. Age of Head
  2. General Condition
  3. Counterfeits

Benefits of buying new

Ultimately, buying a new head from one of our registered dealers is your best and safest option. There are 0% finance deals available that allow payments to be spread over a longer, defined period of time. Newer heads de-value very little and are a relatively safe purchase.

If you own an older OConnor head, we (or our partners) can sometimes offer a trade-in on the older product as it approaches end of support (see age of head) with a discount off the new replacement model. Contact myself or customer service for details if you think this may apply to you.

If you are buying a pre-owned OConnor product and have any questions on the subject, you can reach me on the “Ask OConnor” section of the website. We don’t usually have B-stock product ourselves, but we might know of partners who do.

Best of luck in finding your perfect OConnor head! I hope it serves you long and well, as they have for the last 70 years with our customers worldwide that share your passion for filmaking.
